ALUMINUM DOCK LADDERS
Our dock ladders are constructed of 1.9” OD pipe with high rails similar to a pool ladder. This heavyweight construction is TIG welded (remember, small smooth weld) for safety and has a 500-lb. capacity. This is a much stronger and more user-friendly ladder than the less expensive pontoon boat ladders with 1” tubing that most dock builders offer. We offer the 5-step ladder since the second step is on the water line. A 4-step ladder is less expensive but cumbersome to climb and not very friendly to old fat guys like us with a bad back! Our ladders have a stainless steel bracket which permits you to put it in the water or to rotate it out of the water for storage. Once positioned for storage, you secure it vertically in place with a clevis pin attached to the bracket. We prefer to mount the ladder between the roof posts just in case someone needs something extra to hold on to as they climb out of the water. (If the ladder is not mounted under the roof, you should consider drilling a small weep hole in the top of each hand rail to prevent water from collecting, freezing, and potentially cracking the railing tube when it is stored in the up position for the winter.) All our ladders are through- bolted and reinforced under the deck; most dock builders just screw their ladders to the deck meaning that only the deck screws are supporting weight on the ladder.
